While purchasing office supplies for HopeLink at a local retailer, Ann – a frequent donor – began a conversation with the checkout clerk.

When the HopeLink name came up in the conversation, the clerk said, "Oh, I know HopeLink. They helped me once." Ann retells the story as the company accidentally shorting the employee’s paycheck, however, the shortage prevented the woman from paying her rent.

The HR department told the employee that it would take two weeks for the shortage error to be corrected. The young woman could not convince her landlord to wait an additional two weeks but was able to secure the needed $100 through HopeLink. Ann says, "this young woman, through no fault of her own, would have been facing homelessness had it not been for that mere $100 boost. Every time someone asks me why I give to HopeLink, I think of that young woman and what a difference $100 meant to her."
